This itinerary features scenic ascent with key acclimatization on Day 3 (Lava Tower "climb high, sleep low"). Daily trekking builds altitude gradually – follow "pole pole" pacing and stay hydrated.
Pickup from Moshi hotel after breakfast and gear check. Drive to Machame Gate (~1 hour) for registration. Trek through lush rainforest to Machame Camp.
Afternoon arrival for rest, dinner and briefing. First night camping.
Leave rainforest, enter moorland with giant lobelias/senecios. Steady climb with views of Shira Plateau and Kibo.
Reach Shira Camp for acclimatization rest – stunning sunset views.
Ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m) for altitude exposure, then descend to Barranco Camp via scenic path. Key for acclimatization.
Afternoon rest – prepare for Barranco Wall tomorrow.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall (non-technical), then traverse to Karanga Valley and up to Barafu Camp. Rocky alpine desert terrain.
Arrive afternoon for rest, early dinner and summit prep.
Midnight start for summit push (6–8 hours up). Reach Stella Point at dawn, then Uhuru Peak sunrise. Celebrate, photos, then descend to Mweka Camp.
Long but triumphant day!
Final descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Certificates, farewells, then transfer to Moshi hotel for rest/shower/celebration.
